Video: Thousands of Hasidim in Uman prayed together for peace in Ukraine
Thousands of Hasidim in Uman joined together in prayer for peace in Ukraine. At noon, the pilgrims paused and recited the prayer in unison as it was broadcast over loudspeakers throughout the neighborhood.
One of the worshippers explained that this prayer is called Tikun Ha-Klali.
“Tikkun Ha-Klali—literally translated as ‘comprehensive rectification’—is a mass prayer during which a collection of ten psalms by King David is recited; reading them serves as teshuva—repentance— for all sins. This collection was introduced to the world by Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav, to whose grave his followers—the Bratslav Hasidim—travel every year,” explained the Jewish community of Ukraine.
The prayer service took place in the area of the Bratslav Hasidic pilgrimage site in Uman.
As a reminder, Rosh Hashanah is the holiday marking the beginning of the 5787th new year for all who practice Judaism. It lasts two days and will take place from September 11 to 13 in 2026. The tomb of the Hasidic spiritual leader is located in Uman, and they believe that celebrating the New Year there will bring happiness. This year, about 40,000 Hasidim are expected in Uman, Oleg Ganich, deputy mayor of Uman, told Suspilne.

On September 11–13, Uman expects pilgrims to arrive for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations. Local authorities are already coordinating security measures, medical support, and transportation, taking into account the conditions of martial law.
On July 29, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Hasidic pilgrims to take security risks into account when traveling to Uman for the Rosh Hashanah celebrations. The ministry emphasized that due to Russia’s ongoing massive missile strikes on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure, it is impossible to guarantee the complete safety of foreign citizens on Ukrainian territory.
