Reports that Belarus is allegedly preparing a ground operation against Ukraine are misleading.
This was stated by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.
According to him, Alexander Lukashenko has not made any statements about preparing an offensive, and the Belarusian army currently does not have sufficient forces to carry out such an operation.
Kovalenko noted that Belarus is currently mostly feigning activity, particularly through disinformation campaigns.
He also emphasized that Ukraine is monitoring the situation and is prepared for any developments.
The CPD clarified that in his statements, Lukashenko spoke about approaches to arming the army and analyzed the experience of other conflicts, rather than preparing for an invasion.
Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, held a meeting on arming the army and announced the preparation of a new state armament program for 2026–2030.
Belarus continues to build infrastructure facilities deep within its territory and is not moving them closer to the Ukrainian border. At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that Russia may use these facilities in the future to deploy additional forces and equipment.
Journalists have established that Belarus continues to play a significant role in supporting the Russian military-industrial complex by supplying chassis, electronics, and other key components for Russian military equipment. The value of these supplies in recent years has already reached billions of dollars.
