The CPC has uncovered links between the shooter in Kyiv and Russian military personnel

Investigators in Kyiv are working to determine the circumstances surrounding a deadly shooting that left several people dead and wounded.

The suspect, Dmytro Vasylchenkov, had close family ties to Russia and had been promoting anti-Ukrainian propaganda on social media for years.

According to the Anti-Corruption Center, the detainee’s father—Vasyl Vasylchenkov—is a retired colonel and a citizen of the Russian Federation.

At one time, he headed a research school at the Ryazan Airborne Command School, where he also served as a professor in the Department of Automotive Engineering.

The suspect himself also demonstrated support for the Russian Airborne Forces.

His emails contain the abbreviation “VDV,” and on Facebook he used corresponding symbols under the pseudonym “Bakhmut V.D.V.”

Journalists from “Toronto Television” discovered that Vasylchenko Jr. systematically posted anti-Semitic content.

In addition, he denied the legitimacy of Ukrainian statehood, using the derogatory phrase “so-called Ukraine” in his posts.

Despite this blatant stance, in 2025, the police unimpededly re-registered the weapon in Vasylchenko’s name.

The CPC notes that such facts should have served as a compelling basis for close scrutiny by law enforcement agencies long before the tragedy occurred.

In the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, an unknown assailant opened fire on people.

Journalist Vitaliy Glagola has released new details about the attacker who carried out the shooting in Kyiv.
