The Central Election Commission has certified Olena Kyivets as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has officially recognized Olena Kyivets as an elected member of the Ukrainian Parliament.

She will join the Verkhovna Rada via the electoral list of the Servant of the People party after her predecessor, Daria Volodina, resigned from her parliamentary seat early.

The CEC adopted the relevant decision on Monday, April 20, after receiving a parliamentary resolution terminating Volodina’s mandate.

Daria Volodina, who served on the Rada’s Finance Committee, decided to leave the Rada of her own accord. The Verkhovna Rada approved this decision on April 8, 2026, with 253 votes in favor.

Olena Kyivets ran in the 2019 special elections as No. 161 on the “Servant of the People” list. She holds a Doctor of Law degree and is a professor; she graduated from the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The new deputy has significant experience in research and teaching, and has also worked as an assistant to members of parliament.

An interesting fact in Kyivets’ biography is her collaboration with the current Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk. In 2016, they co-founded the non-governmental organization “League of Law Professors.”

At the time of the 2019 elections, Olena Kyivets was an independent.
