Courts in Dnipro have acquitted seven city council officials in embezzlement cases
On March 24, 2026, Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov announced that over the past two weeks, courts had acquitted seven city council officials and employees.
According to him, the total number of such criminal cases, opened primarily during the 2020 local elections, reached nearly 300. Among those acquitted are both deputy mayors and contractors for municipal projects, who spent years proving their innocence in court.
The mayor of Dnipro attributes the mass opening of cases to political pressure from government officials and attempts to discredit local self-government. Filatov noted that despite changes in personnel within law enforcement agencies, the proceedings were not closed even during the full-scale war waged by Russia against Ukraine, particularly following procurements for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Individuals whose innocence has been confirmed by the court are entitled to compensation from the state; however, law enforcement agencies are currently not providing official comments regarding the acquittals.
As a reminder, Filatov appealed to the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding the files found on the phone of the suspect in the murder of Faryon.
Filatov also made an emotional comment regarding the Russian attack on a warehouse storing gauze and bandages in Dnipro.
