Two high schools damaged by Russian shelling have been restored in Dnipro

In Dnipro, restoration work has been completed on Secondary Schools No. 88 and No. 63, which were damaged by Russian shelling last year. The damaged parts of the buildings have been repaired, and conditions have been created to ensure a safe learning environment.

Following the restoration work, both schools have resumed full operations. City officials note that the reconstruction was part of efforts to address the consequences of enemy attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Dozens of windows and doors were shattered by the strikes

Gymnasium No. 63 sustained damage during a Russian attack on the night of September 20, 2025. Nearly 80 windows were shattered and two entrance doors were damaged in the building.

According to the school’s principal, Oksana Lukomets, restoration work took about three to four months, after which students were able to return to in-person learning.

The school replaced window and door frames, repaired window sills and plaster, and installed new window sills and flashings.

"The school replaced window and door frames in accordance with state building codes regarding thermal insulation of buildings and structures," the statement said.

90 windows were replaced at Gymnasium No. 88

Gymnasium No. 88 suffered significant damage following a Russian missile strike on June 24, 2025.

According to the school’s principal, Olena Melnikova, there were virtually no classrooms left in the building without damaged windows, doors, or ceilings.

During the restoration, 90 windows and 10 doors were replaced at the school, and the ceilings in classrooms and hallways were repaired.

During the repairs, students attended classes in a hybrid format. After the work was completed, the educational process at the school fully returned to normal.

A drone attack on Dnipro led to fires and destruction in residential areas.

On May 16, Russian occupation forces carried out massive shelling of the Kherson region, resulting in one death and 15 civilians sustaining injuries of varying severity.

On the night of May 17, Ukraine’s air defense forces shot down and neutralized 279 enemy drones out of 287 launched by Russian military units.

A 25-year-old woman was injured as a result of an enemy drone strike on a gas station in the Zaporizhzhia district.
