A new Consulate General of Ukraine has opened in France
Another Ukrainian diplomatic mission has opened in France. On July 9, the Consulate General of Ukraine officially opened in Lyon and began receiving visitors from its very first day. The new consulate is expected to serve tens of thousands of Ukrainians living in several regions of France.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced the opening. According to him, the new Consulate General opened its doors to citizens and began providing consular services on July 9. “On the morning of July 9, Ukraine’s new diplomatic mission had already begun receiving citizens,” Sibiga said.
The Consulate General will serve Ukrainians living in several major French regions: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and Corsica. According to unofficial data, approximately 45,000 Ukrainian citizens currently reside in this consular district. They will now be able to process documents, receive necessary consular services, and seek assistance without having to travel to other diplomatic missions.
In addition to the consulate’s opening, a cultural project was also launched in Lyon. On the day the consulate opened, the exhibition “Colors of Resilience” debuted, featuring works by Ukrainian female artists. The exhibition will run for two months and aims to introduce the French public to contemporary Ukrainian art and stories of the resilience of Ukrainians during the war.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that up-to-date information on consular services, the list of required documents, operating hours, and announcements regarding mobile consular services can be found on the Consulate General’s official website and on its social media pages. The opening of the Consulate General in Lyon is intended to make consular services more accessible to the Ukrainian community in southern and southeastern France, where the number of Ukrainian citizens has grown significantly in recent years, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
