In Kharkiv, the State Bureau of Investigation detained a border guard who promised to smuggle a soldier out of the country for $15,000
Officers of the State Bureau of Investigation, in cooperation with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, detained a border guard from Kharkiv and served him with a notice of suspicion. The official had promised to arrange travel to a European country for another military officer in exchange for 15,000 U.S. dollars.
According to the investigation, during a private conversation, the suspect assured a servicemember from another unit that he had the necessary connections at one of the agency’s medical facilities. Using these contacts, he planned to produce fake medical documents for treatment abroad, which would provide grounds for leaving Ukraine without returning.
In exchange for his services, the border guard demanded full prepayment and promised to prepare the necessary paperwork within a month. Law enforcement officials have now detained the suspect and formally charged him.
This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR).
