Following Kravchenko's resignation from the OGP, Krym is performing management duties
Following Ruslan Kravchenko’s removal from the post of Prosecutor General, his deputy, Maksym Krym, is carrying out administrative functions at the Prosecutor General’s Office. The Prosecutor General’s Office clarified that Krym has not yet been officially appointed acting Prosecutor General. Meanwhile, journalists from “Slidstvo.Info” reported that his wife and her parents received Russian passports in 2014.
Following Ruslan Kravchenko’s removal from the post of Prosecutor General, the question arose within the Office of the Prosecutor General as to who is currently performing the administrative duties of the agency’s head. The Office of the Prosecutor General stated that Deputy Prosecutor General Maksym Krym is currently performing these functions. However, there is still no separate order or directive appointing him as acting Prosecutor General.
This was reported on September 15 by Mariana Gayovska, head of the Office of the Prosecutor General’s Department of Information Policy and Communications, in a comment to Hromadske. “At this time, Krym has not yet been appointed acting Prosecutor General by a separate order or directive,” she said.
According to Gayovska, Krym is performing the relevant administrative functions as Deputy Prosecutor General in accordance with the division of responsibilities. However, this does not mean that he has been granted all the powers of the Prosecutor General. Certain procedural decisions and other powers are, by law, reserved exclusively for the head of the Prosecutor General’s Office. “Under the division of duties, as Deputy Prosecutor General, he performs the relevant administrative functions, with the exception of those powers and procedural decisions that are by law exclusively within the competence of the Prosecutor General,” Hayovska explained.
Krym May Have Approved a Decision in the Kryvonos Case
Against this backdrop, another decision linked to Maksym Krym has come to light. According to LIGA.net sources, it was Krym who recently approved the decision to remove information regarding the suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos from the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.
This suspicion had previously been signed by Ruslan Kravchenko. After his removal, the relevant decision—according to the publication’s sources—was approved by his deputy. This information was reported by LIGA.net sources. There are no official details regarding this decision in the cited materials.
What Is Known About Maksym Krym’s Wife
On September 15, journalists from “Slidstvo.Info” published a separate investigation into Maksym Krym’s family. According to the journalists, his wife, Anna Krym, and her parents—Vyacheslav and Larisa Yushkov—received Russian passports in April 2014. As the investigators established, Anna Krym received her Russian passport on April 2, 2014. Her parents, according to “Slidstvo.Info,” received their passports on April 30, 2014.
Journalists note that the information regarding Hanna Krym’s Russian passport remains current as of 2026. At the same time, investigators were unable to determine whether she had canceled this document or whether she is currently using it. The mere fact that an official’s relatives hold a Russian passport does not automatically indicate the official’s own actions or position. The investigation in question specifically concerns the documents of his wife and her parents.
Thus, following Ruslan Kravchenko’s suspension, his deputy, Maksym Krym, is currently performing management functions at the OGP. However, he has not yet been officially appointed acting Prosecutor General, and at the same time, journalists have drawn attention to the Russian passports held by his wife and her parents.
The day before, Ruslan Kravchenko spoke out about pressure being exerted on members of parliament ahead of the Verkhovna Rada’s vote on his dismissal from the post of Prosecutor General. He called on lawmakers to make their own decision, free from the influence of other government bodies.
