The tenth underground school, with nearly 3,000 students, has officially opened in Kharkiv
On September 1, the city’s tenth underground school opened in the Nemyshlyanskyi District of Kharkiv. It is designed to accommodate 2,700 students from 11 schools in the district.
The shelter can accommodate 360 children at a time. Classes will be held in three shifts, six days a week. First-graders will attend in-person classes three times a week, high school students twice a week, and the rest of the classes will be held remotely.
The school covers an area of more than 1,500 square meters. It features specialized classrooms, a computer lab, a resource room, a cafeteria, an auditorium, and a sports complex with soccer, basketball, and volleyball courts.
In total, Kharkiv now has 24 safe locations for learning—10 underground schools, seven metro schools, and radiation shelters.

The twelfth underground school has opened in Zaporizhzhia—a modern space for safe in-person learning based at Gymnasium No. 84. The school was built according to the principles of inclusivity and accessibility, and the spacious classrooms are equipped with all necessary equipment and furniture.
As a reminder, construction of another “underground school” began in the Zaporizhzhia region in October. This will be the eighth educational facility of this type.
