Law enforcement officers detained a 35-year-old man who fired a shot on Shukhevych Street during the day on April 24, causing alarm among residents. As determined by patrol officers and the investigative team at the scene, the suspect used a starter pistol, firing at the asphalt pavement.

The Khmelnytskyi Regional Police reported on the incident and the suspect’s arrest.

A report of gunshots was received via the 102 hotline around 4:00 p.m., after which police officers immediately responded to the address. No civilians were injured as a result of the incident, and the shooter was apprehended directly at the scene of the offense. The police seized the weapon and began investigating all the circumstances to make an appropriate procedural decision.

Such actions under martial law, imposed due to Russian aggression, carry severe penalties, as the use of any weapon in public places exacerbates social tension. The investigation is ongoing, and State Emergency Service specialists are reminding citizens of the rules of conduct in the event of gunfire or a threat of terrorist attacks. The seized starter pistol will be sent for forensic examination to determine the final classification of the detainee’s actions. The situation is under the control of the Main Department of the National Police in Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
