In Kyiv, an accountant with the Department of Education was notified of being named a suspect in connection with an overpayment for leaf removal
An accountant at the Education Department of the Podilsk District State Administration has been notified that she is suspected of embezzling a large amount of budget funds. According to the prosecutor’s office, more than 700,000 hryvnias were overpaid for the removal of leaves from school grounds.
It has been established that in 2023, the accountant—who was the person authorized to conduct public procurement—arranged for a contract to be signed between
the Education Department of the Podilsk District State Administration and the Podilsk District Municipal Enterprise “UZN” for services to remove fallen leaves and branches from the grounds of the district’s educational institutions.
Under the terms of the contract, over 2.8 million hryvnias were paid for this work. It was also established that the cost of leaf removal was significantly inflated, resulting in an overpayment of over 700,000 hryvnias for these services.
The suspect’s actions have been classified as embezzlement of budget funds, committed by a group of individuals acting in prior collusion under martial law, on a large scale.
