A man accidentally shot a passerby in Kyiv
In Kyiv, a man accidentally seriously injured a woman with a shotgun. According to police, he was attempting to fix a malfunction with the weapon in a parking lot when the shot was fired. The shot penetrated a metal roll-up door and struck a passerby who was walking nearby at the time. This was reported by the Kyiv Police Department.
A dangerous incident involving a firearm occurred in Kyiv, resulting in serious injury to a bystander. Police have already detained the man who fired the pump-action shotgun in the parking lot of a residential building.
According to preliminary investigation data, the man took the shotgun out of his car and was attempting to fix a malfunction in the weapon. At that moment, a shot was fired toward the parking lot’s metal roll-up gate. “One of the pellets pierced the gate and struck the woman in the abdomen,” police reported.
At the time, the victim was walking near the parking lot and was completely unaware of the danger. After being wounded, the woman was rushed to the hospital. Doctors diagnosed her with a penetrating abdominal wound, damage to internal organs, and internal bleeding. She is currently under medical supervision.
Following the incident, law enforcement conducted a thorough investigation at the scene. Investigators reviewed surveillance camera footage and consulted a ballistics expert to determine all the details. Police reported that specialists examined the weapon, the direction of the shot, and the distance. Ballistic lasers were even used for this purpose. “Forensic experts determined the exact angle and trajectory of the shot,” law enforcement officials noted.
The investigation is currently ongoing. Law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the incident and determining the legal classification of the case. The police once again reminded the public that any mishandling of firearms, especially in residential areas, can end in tragedy due to even a single mistake or careless movement.
