In Kyiv, the director of a municipal enterprise and an accomplice were charged with extorting $1.65 million
In the capital, charges have been filed against the director of one of Kyiv’s municipal enterprises and the co-founder of a private company, who are suspected of attempting to embezzle funds on an exceptionally large scale.
According to the investigation, as part of an investment project in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital, the suspects attempted to obtain $1.65 million to “resolve issues” related to winning the tender and overseeing the construction.
They also promised to facilitate the process through alleged connections within the city government and other agencies, although in reality they had no such influence.
Law enforcement officials note that the first installment amounted to $200,000, and the suspects additionally demanded the transfer of apartments upon completion of the project.
On June 24, they were detained while receiving part of the funds in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The issue of imposing preventive measures is currently being decided. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office officially concluded a pre-trial investigation into a former prosecutor of the Office of the Prosecutor General and his accomplices—lawyers.
In the Odesa region, law enforcement officers exposed a servicemember from one of the military units who, according to the investigation, demanded 23,000 U.S. dollars to influence the decision of a military medical commission.
