The search for a man who drowned in Lake Redkine has been called off in Kyiv
A five-day search in Kyiv for a 23-year-old man who drowned in the Obolon district of the capital has come to an end. Divers from the State Emergency Service recovered his body from the bottom of Lake Redkine.
The tragedy occurred on the evening of June 20. The man went missing while near the water. The search operation lasted several days and concluded on June 24.
The victim’s body was found at 2:53 p.m. at a depth of about 10 meters and approximately 70 meters from the shore. The divers then brought the body to the surface and handed it over to law enforcement officials.
The search involved divers from the State Emergency Service (SES), specialists in underwater and humanitarian demining, the police, and SES psychologists who worked with the victim’s family.
Law enforcement officials are investigating all the circumstances and causes of the tragedy.
The State Emergency Service urges citizens to be cautious when spending time near the water and to follow safety rules at bodies of water.

In the Chernivtsi region, four people, including three children, went missing in the Dniester River. The incidents occurred on June 24 while the victims were swimming and relaxing near the water. A large-scale search and rescue operation is currently underway.
Last week alone, 14 people, including one child, died as a result of accidents on bodies of water in Ukraine.
Earlier, specialists from the State Audit Service uncovered flagrant violations in the Petrivka Village Council, where business owners had illegally seized the coastal strip and were intimidating people with landmines.
