Protests in support of Fedorov are continuing for a second day in several cities across Ukraine

In Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Lutsk, and other cities across Ukraine, peaceful protests against the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov as defense minister are continuing for the second day in a row.

In the capital, protesters took to the streets carrying signs reading “Bring Fedorov Back,” “A Strong Country Needs Strong People,” and other slogans. Protesters also chanted, “Syrsky must resign” and “Fedorov is Ukraine’s defense minister.”

Some Kyiv residents came to the rally with their pets, attaching signs to them in support of the former minister.

In Mykolaiv, about 50 people gathered near the city council building. The protesters demanded that Fedorov be reinstated, called his dismissal unfounded, and urged the authorities to explain the reasons behind the personnel decision. The protesters also called for an independent audit of the activities of Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In Lutsk, about fifty people gathered on Teatralna Square for the second day in a row. Among the participants’ main demands are the swift appointment of a defense minister, the continuation of reforms and innovations in the military, and accountability from the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The protesters say they will continue their demonstrations until the authorities respond to their demands.

This was reported by Ukrinform and Suspilne.

As a reminder, on July 16, rallies in support of Mykhailo Fedorov took place for the second time that day in Kyiv, Lviv, and Lutsk following reports of his resignation as defense minister. Participants called on the authorities to continue the reforms that have already begun and to transparently select new leadership for the Ministry of Defense.

Russian Z-bloggers reacted positively to Mykhailo Fedorov’s dismissal as Ukraine’s defense minister, claiming that this could allegedly weaken the Ukrainian army.
