Video: Footage Shows the Extent of the Damage Following the Explosion in Vyshneve
Footage showing the aftermath of a massive explosion in Vyshneve—which occurred following a Russian missile strike and subsequent detonation—has been released online. As a result of the tragedy, entire residential neighborhoods were destroyed, and more than 600 local residents were evacuated from the disaster zone.
The Office of the Prosecutor General has released new footage of the extensive destruction in Vyshneve, Kyiv Oblast, caused by the explosion of an ammunition depot hit during a Russian missile strike on the night of July 6. The video was released following the announcement of the investigation’s findings, in which law enforcement officials reported the arrest of executives from one of the defense companies.
The released footage shows significant destruction of residential buildings, destroyed homes, damaged infrastructure, and an area scorched by prolonged secondary detonations of ammunition.
According to Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, seven people were killed as a result of the tragedy, another 29 were injured, more than 600 residents were evacuated, and approximately 13 hectares of residential areas were destroyed.
According to the investigation, on the night of July 6, Russian troops launched a missile strike on the Kyiv region. A 9M723 ballistic missile from the “Iskander” system struck a warehouse belonging to one of the defense enterprises in Vyshneve. This triggered a massive secondary detonation of ammunition that lasted several hours and significantly increased the extent of the damage.
The prosecutor’s office reported that the investigation revealed probable violations of ammunition storage regulations. According to investigators, a significant amount of ammunition was stored in facilities that did not meet safety requirements and lacked the necessary permits. Law enforcement officials believe that these circumstances contributed to the large-scale secondary detonation following the Russian strike.
Two executives from a defense contractor have been detained in connection with the case. They are charged with official negligence, which, according to investigators, led to serious consequences. The court will ultimately determine the legal consequences of their actions.
