Zelenskyy discussed the situation on the hottest fronts with commanders
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the commanders of the corps defending the hottest sectors of the front. During the meeting, they discussed the situation on the front lines, the military’s needs, weapons supplies, and further strengthening of Ukraine’s defenses.
Special attention was given to equipping units with long-range artillery and unmanned aerial systems, as well as to developing domestic production of military equipment.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa, spoke with the commanders of the corps currently holding the line on the most challenging sectors of the front.
Participants in the discussion included Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshin, commander of the 8th Airborne Assault Corps; Major General Artem Bogomolov, commander of the 10th Army Corps; Brigadier General Oleksiy Maistrenko, commander of the 11th Army Corps; Brigadier General Yevhen Lasiychuk, commander of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Airborne Assault Forces; Commander of the 20th Army Corps, Brigadier General Sviatoslav Zaits, and Commander of the 17th Army Corps, Brigadier General Yaroslav Sidorov.
The President thanked each of the commanders for their detailed reports on the situation at the front. During the meeting, they discussed the fighting in the most intense sectors, particularly in Sloviansk, Pokrovsk, Oleksandrivsk, and the Kharkiv region. “We discussed the nature and specifics of combat operations on the front lines, particularly in Sloviansk, Pokrovsk, Oleksandrivsk, the Kharkiv region, and other areas where the fighting is particularly intense. All commanders emphasize the importance of our program for the fair distribution of personnel among combat brigades. The program has been in operation since December and has proven its effectiveness in virtually every brigade,” Zelenskyy noted.
A separate topic of discussion was the military’s need for additional weapons and equipment. The commanders discussed weapons deliveries, troop rotations, the protection of Ukrainian logistics, and methods for disrupting the logistics routes of Russian forces.
According to the president, the Ukrainian army currently needs to increase its stockpile of long-range artillery and 155-mm shells. They also discussed additional capabilities for striking targets behind enemy lines. “We need more long-range artillery—155-caliber shells. We have identified which additional means for medium-range strikes need to be supplied. We will discuss additional options with manufacturers and all those involved in the supply chain. “I thank all the developers and manufacturers of high-precision munitions: this is a clear priority for the troops, and supplies must be increased,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
During the meeting, they also reviewed operational intelligence regarding Russian military plans and opportunities to strengthen Ukraine’s active defense. The President specifically acknowledged proposals from several commanders. In particular, he thanked Dmytro Voloshin for his ideas on scaling up successful solutions within the corps, Oleksiy Maistrenko for his detailed analysis of technical problems on the front lines, and Yaroslav Sidorov for his clear vision of the necessary solutions and support for the units. “We will deliver results,” the head of state concluded. The head of state announced this on his Facebook page.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is reportedly considering replacing Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. The Financial Times reported this, citing a senior official in the Office of the President whose name was not disclosed. According to the publication, the final decision will depend on whether a candidate can be found who is capable of seamlessly taking over command of the army amid wartime conditions.
