Moscow reported a record number of drones in a week

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that nearly 2,000 Ukrainian drones allegedly flew toward the Russian capital over the course of a week. According to him, Russian air defense forces reportedly shot down most of the drones as they approached the city.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported large-scale drone attacks on the Russian capital. According to him, from 8:30 p.m. on July 11 to 8:30 a.m. on July 18, 1,892 drones belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces were allegedly flying toward Moscow.

Sobyanin claims that Russian air defenses were reportedly able to destroy most of the drones while they were still far from the city. He said that 207 UAVs were allegedly shot down in the immediate vicinity of Moscow. “Most of the drones were neutralized on the outskirts,” the mayor of the Russian capital stated.

On the night of July 18, authorities reported hundreds of drones

According to Sobyanin, on the night of July 18, more than 370 drones were reportedly heading toward Moscow. Russian authorities stated that 64 drones were destroyed as they approached the Russian capital.

At the same time, following the attack in the Moscow region, reports emerged regarding the consequences of the strikes. In the city of Noginsk, according to Russian sources, a fire broke out at an oil depot. A Wildberries warehouse in Elektrostal was also reportedly hit.

Russia is not disclosing all the details

Russian authorities regularly report attacks by Ukrainian drones on their territory. However, some of these reports are accompanied only by brief statements about air defense operations, without full information on the consequences.

The Ukrainian side does not usually comment on all strikes against targets on Russian territory, but has previously stated that the attacks are aimed at military, energy, and logistics facilities used in the war against Ukraine. He reported this on his social media accounts.

Ukraine is gradually gaining more leverage in the war with Russia, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for the Kremlin to maintain the narrative of a “special military operation.” This was stated by former Polish Minister of National Defense Janusz Onyszkiewicz, who noted that even in Russia, doubts are beginning to emerge regarding the continuation of the war.
