A Lviv court has concluded the closing arguments in the case of the murder of Iryna Farion
On September 17, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Lviv concluded the closing arguments in the case of the murder of linguist Iryna Farion. Following this, the panel of judges retired to the deliberation room to render a verdict.
During the hearing, the defendant’s attorney, Diana Kara, moved to postpone the proceedings until September 18 due to the need for additional review of the forensic medical examination materials; however, the court denied this request.
The attorney then moved to recuse the panel of judges: “I move to recuse the panel of judges on the grounds that the court is violating the right to a defense and falsifying information and data provided to the defense by the courts.” The defendant, Vyacheslav Zinchenko, supported his attorney’s statement and refused to deliver his closing statement, noting: “I dispute that this constitutes court proceedings or a rebuttal, as I need time to clarify my legal position.”

On the second anniversary of the death of linguist and Member of Parliament of the 7th convocation Iryna Farion, her daughter Sofia Osoba published a poignant video message. She shared family memories, spoke about a family tradition, and expressed words of love and gratitude to her mother.
As a reminder, the defendant accused of Farion’s murder will be assigned a public defender.
