Lviv bids farewell to Stepan Kubiv

A funeral service for the renowned Ukrainian politician and parliamentarian Stepan Kubiv was held at St. George’s Cathedral. His family, colleagues, friends, and city residents came to pay their respects, as did Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, who called the deceased his lifelong mentor and a man of great heart who was deeply committed to the creation of the Pantheon of Heroes.

Following the funeral service, a citywide farewell ceremony was held on Rynok Square, during which the community paid their final respects to their fellow citizen. The People’s Deputy’s final resting place is Lychakiv Cemetery, where the most prominent figures in Ukrainian history, culture, and politics are traditionally buried.

On the morning of May 18, Ukrainian MP Stepan Kubiv died suddenly. The circumstances of his death have not yet been clarified, and details of the incident are being investigated.
