In Mykolaiv, July 5 was declared a day of mourning for those who died in a fatal traffic accident outside the city

In Mykolaiv, Sunday, July 5, was declared a day of mourning for the 12 people who died in a major traffic accident on the Odesa–Melitopol–Novoazovsk highway.

According to city officials, among the victims were employees of the municipal utility “Mykolaivelektrotrans, who were traveling with their families on vacation.

“The Mykolaiv City Council extends its sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died in the horrific traffic accident that occurred today on the highway near Mykolaiv... In light of the tragedy, July 5 has been declared a day of mourning in Mykolaiv,” the statement reads.

As a sign of mourning, the Ukrainian national flag will be flown at half-mast on the city’s administrative buildings on Sunday.

The city council also reported that the families of the deceased and the injured are being provided with all necessary assistance.

As a reminder, a fatal traffic accident occurred on July 4 on the Odesa–Melitopol–Novoazovsk highway near Mykolaiv. According to updated data, the accident claimed the lives of 12 people.
