In Mykolaiv, a Russian drone got stuck in a tree and did not explode
On May 13, 2026, in Mykolaiv, bomb disposal experts defused a Russian attack drone that had failed to detonate. The drone had become lodged in the top of a tree, where it was discovered by local residents. After eyewitnesses reported the incident, emergency services arrived at the scene and safely defused the dangerous object.
This was reported with reference to the Mykolaiv Regional Police.
“A Russian attack drone was discovered today, May 13, by vigilant citizens in the treetops,” the police reported.
Explosive ordnance disposal specialists, patrol officers, as well as investigative and operational teams from the Mykolaiv District Police Department and the Regional Police Headquarters arrived at the scene. After inspecting the drone, law enforcement officers determined that its warhead had not detonated during the fall and posed a real threat to human life.
Due to the high danger, police bomb disposal experts decided to destroy the drone directly at the site of discovery via a controlled detonation, adhering to all safety measures.
Investigators documented the consequences of yet another war crime committed by the Russian Federation and collected physical evidence. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into this incident under the relevant article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of the Laws and Customs of War).
Law enforcement officials once again urge citizens: if you discover rocket debris, drones, or other suspicious objects, do not approach them under any circumstances and immediately call the emergency hotline at 102.
