NATO Responds to Drapato's Appointment as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

NATO stated that the appointment of Mykhailo Drapato as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not affect the Alliance’s cooperation with Ukraine. NATO emphasized that its strategy for supporting Kyiv remains unchanged.

Giovanni Galoforo, advisor to the chairman of the NATO Military Committee on strategic communications, noted that rotations in senior military positions are standard practice, so no changes in military cooperation are expected.

At the same time, the Alliance representative added that he has not yet met personally with the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but expects to do so in the near future.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Major General Mykhailo Drapaty, commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, replacing Oleksandr Syrskyi.

The new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykola Drapaty, addressed the Ukrainian people.
