Near Odesa, 8 hectares of reeds and dry vegetation have been smoldering for the third day in a row

In the Odesa region, efforts are underway to extinguish smoldering dry grass and reeds in irrigated fields. The fire covers an area of about 8 hectares, and due to the smoke, residents are advised to limit their time outdoors.

According to Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, firefighting efforts have been underway since July 20. Rescue workers are hampered by a lack of access roads to the smoldering areas and the need to suspend operations during air raid alerts. At the same time, the situation is under control, and environmental officials are constantly monitoring air quality.

Until the situation improves, people with respiratory conditions, allergies, the elderly, pregnant women, and families with young children are advised to go outside less frequently, keep windows closed, and stay well-hydrated.
