A drug ring involving military personnel was uncovered in Nikopol

In Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, an organized group was busted for selling drugs directly from an apartment. Among the accused are a border guard, two military personnel, and four civilians. According to the investigation, during their operation, they managed to sell several hundred doses of cannabis and methamphetamine.

The State Bureau of Investigations has completed its pretrial investigation into the group that established a drug-selling operation in Nikopol. The indictment has already been submitted to the court. According to the investigation, the group consisted of a border guard inspector, two military personnel, and four civilians. One of the civilians was the organizer of the illegal operation. He was assisted by a military servicemember who, according to the SBI, had left his military unit without authorization.

According to investigators, the border guard was responsible for finding buyers and selling drugs to them personally. The group members purchased narcotics and psychotropic substances on the black market. They then packaged them and sold them to people looking for drugs. To do this, the suspects set up an apartment in one of Nikopol’s high-rise buildings. According to the investigation, sales took place there around the clock.

Buyers were offered cannabis and methamphetamine. The drugs were sold directly from hand to hand, without using any other means of transfer. During the time the scheme was in operation, law enforcement established that the group’s members managed to sell several hundred doses of drugs. The State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) documented the group’s activities in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine. Law enforcement was also assisted by the leadership of the State Border Guard Service.

All members were detained during a routine drug sale. The indictment against the suspects has already been submitted to the court. They are charged with the illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for the purpose of distribution, as well as their subsequent illegal distribution as part of an organized group. These charges fall under Parts 2 and 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Under this article, the defendants face up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. However, the final determination of the defendants’ guilt rests with the court. At present, they are defendants, and their guilt must be proven in accordance with the law. The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense in the Eastern Region is overseeing the proceedings in this case. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has exposed hackers who created a fake “Reserve+” app to evade mobilization.

A pretrial investigation is currently underway to identify all participants in the criminal scheme and bring them to justice. The suspects face up to eight years in prison, according to the SBU.

As a reminder, the SBU, the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR), and the National Police have uncovered 11 additional schemes to evade mobilization in various regions of Ukraine.
