A street named after Odesa appears in Heidelberg, Germany
In the German city of Heidelberg, a street has officially been named in honor of Odesa — Odessastraße. This is a symbolic gesture of partnership and support for Ukraine, highlighting the friendly relations between the two cities, according to the Odesa City Council.
“Since 2022, Heidelberg has repeatedly provided Odesa with humanitarian aid, specialized municipal and rescue equipment, and has also given Odesa’s schoolchildren access to educational and cultural programs,” the Odesa City Council noted.
The partnership between the cities officially began in spring 2025, and the new street has become a symbol of solidarity and friendship. Now, Odesa is represented in the space of one of Germany’s most renowned scientific centers, serving as a reminder of Ukrainian-German cooperation.
