Three military personnel from the Territorial Defense Command were detained in Rivne for disorderly conduct
On September 23 in Rivne, a scuffle broke out between servicemen from the Territorial Military Command, a 40-year-old man who had violated military registration rules, and other individuals in civilian clothing. Law enforcement officers detained three servicemen.
According to the investigation, the conflict arose during an inspection of the man’s military registration documents. The situation escalated and turned into a confrontation. A criminal case was opened regarding this incident under the article on hooliganism. The three military personnel were detained and are currently being held in a pretrial detention center.
"According to the investigation, during a check of the military registration documents of a 40-year-old Rivne resident who had violated military registration rules, a dispute arose with representatives of the Military Registration and Enlistment Office. The situation subsequently escalated: the soldiers used profanity, blocked traffic, and instigated a brawl.
They smashed a car window and sprayed pepper spray in the man’s face. The servicemen then attempted to forcibly drag him out of the vehicle, and when he resisted, they beat him.
Some of the soldiers were in military uniform, while others in civilian clothing also joined in the incident.”
The prosecutor’s office added that the victim was diagnosed with a closed head injury, a contusion, and bruises to the head, as well as a chemical burn to the eyes.
A criminal case has been opened regarding this incident under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—hooliganism. The detainees are currently being held in a pretrial detention center. The issue of formally notifying them of the charges against them is being decided.
The penalty under this article ranges from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
