Ternopil plans to raise public transportation fares to 25 hryvnias

Ternopil plans to raise public transportation fares to 25 hryvnias

Public transportation fares in Ternopil may increase—the maximum fare could rise to 25 UAH.

This was reported by the Ternopil City Council.

The new fares were proposed by transport operators, who claim that the current fare no longer covers the costs of fuel, driver salaries, and vehicle repairs and maintenance.

The city council proposes setting the following fares: 20 UAH when paying with the “Ternopil Resident Card,” 22 UAH with a transit card, and 25 UAH with a bank card.

Currently, the city has fares of 15, 17, and 20 UAH, respectively.

City officials noted that discounts for 29 categories of citizens, free transfers within 30 minutes, as well as free or discounted fares for schoolchildren and students will remain in place.

Public hearings on the fare review are scheduled for May 29.

As of May 19, a petition calling for no increase in public transit fares in Kyiv had gathered the required number of signatures for consideration by city authorities in less than a day. The initiative emerged amid discussions about a possible fare revision in the capital and sparked a strong reaction among city residents.

Earlier, a petition against fare increases was registered in Kyiv.

In Lviv, public transit fares were raised on May 16, and now prices depend on the payment method and can reach 30 hryvnias per trip. Authorities attribute the fare increase to rising costs for fuel and vehicle maintenance.
