At a detention center in the Mykolaiv region, a man was held for 18 days with broken ribs and no contact with the outside world
Following complaints and an investigation, the Mykolaiv Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Joint Staff released six men who, according to the complainants, had been detained in a manner that may have violated their rights. Among them were individuals with serious medical conditions and those who had legal grounds for deferment. It is also reported that investigations have been launched into the actions of police officers.
In the Mykolaiv region, following an investigation into the situation at the regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office and the Special Forces, authorities announced a series of possible violations during mobilization efforts. According to representatives, they were contacted by a relative of one of the men who, after being detained, likely sustained injuries and had been out of contact for a long time.
This refers to a period of nearly three weeks—18 days—during which the family had no information about the man’s whereabouts or condition. After the representatives intervened, an investigation into the situation began. “When my representatives arrived at the assembly point of the Mykolaiv Regional Territorial Center for Mobilization and Special Operations, it became clear that this was not an isolated incident,” the statement reads.
As a result of the investigation, six men were released. Among them was a man with broken ribs who, according to the complainants, has legal grounds for deferment because he cares for his elderly mother.
Also among those detained was the father of a child with a disability. A separate incident involving a child during the detention has been reported; according to preliminary information, a police officer may have struck the boy, after which his condition worsened due to stress and a chronic illness. “The Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office has already launched a pre-trial investigation under the article on abuse of authority by police officers,” the statement said.
Separately, the statement mentions four other men who were also released. Two of them have serious illnesses—one has viral hepatitis, and another has knee problems. Following an investigation, all those released were given the opportunity to apply for deferment or undergo additional medical examinations. It is also reported that materials regarding possible illegal actions have been forwarded to the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) and the prosecutor’s office for further investigation. The statement emphasizes that every case of potential violations must undergo a legal assessment, and accountability for illegal actions must be inevitable. This was reported by .
As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained a coordinator of Russian strikes on Chernivtsi.
The SBU also uncovered a Russian intelligence network that was planning terrorist attacks using teenagers as operatives.
