LEGO has filed a lawsuit against a Ukrainian entrepreneur over the sale of counterfeit building sets
The Danish company LEGO Group has filed a lawsuit against a Ukrainian entrepreneur suspected of selling building sets that copy products from the LEGO Technic series. The Kyiv Commercial Court has already opened proceedings in the case.
According to the complaint, the online store podarok.in.ua was selling building sets that, in the company’s view, infringe on LEGO’s intellectual property rights. The products in question are copies of the Porsche GT3 RS, Bugatti Chiron, Porsche 911 RSR, Land Rover Defender, and Lamborghini Sian models.
The company is seeking a ban on the sale of the disputed goods, the seizure and destruction of the counterfeit products, and more than 1.16 million UAH in compensation from the business owner. Additionally, LEGO is requesting that a fine of over 116,000 UAH be imposed in favor of the state budget.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for August 13, 2026.
The Danish company LEGO has unveiled a new set from its Architecture series, dedicated to the famous Sagrada Família basilica in Barcelona. The model is the brand’s largest construction set in terms of the number of pieces.
