In Vinnytsia, an intoxicated soldier detonated a stun grenade while being arrested
In Vinnytsia, police officers detained a man who carried out a dangerous provocation involving the use of an explosive device.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Vinnytsia Oblast.
The incident, involving a military serviceman who was intoxicated, occurred on the evening of May 11 on one of the streets in the regional capital.
The incident unfolded around 7:20 p.m. on Serhiy Zulinsky Street. The intoxicated man drew the attention of a patrol crew by deliberately attempting to stop a passing police vehicle.
When the officers got out of the car to determine the reasons for his behavior and assist the man, the situation escalated sharply.
The offender suddenly pulled out a grenade, demonstrating aggressive intentions toward the police officers.
During the attempt to apprehend him, the suspect managed to pull the safety pin, causing the grenade to explode directly in his hands.
Fortunately, the grenade turned out to be a pyrotechnic device, so none of those present sustained physical injuries.
An investigative team arrived at the scene and documented the Vinnytsia resident’s criminal actions. It turned out that the detainee is a military serviceman whose behavior was caused by a significant amount of alcohol consumption.
Police detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He is currently in custody, awaiting the imposition of a preventive measure.
The offender’s actions have been classified as a threat or violence against a law enforcement officer. Criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding this incident, which is under special supervision by the regional police department.
