A foreign national wanted by Interpol was detained in Vinnytsia
Officers from the Vinnytsia Regional Migration Police Department, in collaboration with staff from the International Police Cooperation Sector of the National Police Headquarters and the State Migration Service, carried out a successful special operation. On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the regional capital, they identified and detained a 32-year-old citizen of the Republic of Moldova who was wanted internationally by Interpol.
The foreign national was wanted by law enforcement agencies in his home country for committing particularly serious crimes against sexual freedom and personal integrity. The suspect is charged with kidnapping and the rape of a minor girl. For a long time, the suspect had been hiding from justice in Ukraine, attempting to evade responsibility.
Currently, the detained Moldovan has been placed in a temporary detention facility (TDF). Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have initiated legal proceedings and are addressing the issue of his subsequent extradition to the country that issued the warrant, where he will stand trial.
