An investigation is underway in Pavlohrad into a case of animal cruelty: the suspect is a minor
In Pavlohrad, law enforcement officials opened a criminal investigation after videos surfaced on social media showing a minor mistreating animals.
Information about the alleged abuse gained widespread attention following posts by volunteers and animal rights activists. According to their reports, the girl had allegedly been posting videos of animal abuse for a long time.
The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Police reported that while monitoring social media, they discovered a video showing a minor choking a cat. Volunteers also contacted law enforcement with a report of animal cruelty.
“Investigators opened a criminal case regarding this incident and determined the circumstances of the offense. Police identified the girl involved in these actions—she is a minor who had previously come to the attention of law enforcement,” the police stated.
The issue of removing the animal is currently being resolved.
Meanwhile, the animal welfare organization UAnimals announced that it is preparing a petition to law enforcement agencies and a parliamentary appeal from the cross-factional group “Humane Country.” Activists are demanding that those responsible be held accountable and that all circumstances of the case be investigated.
Unconfirmed reports are also circulating online about the girl’s possible involvement in other offenses. However, there are currently no official comments from law enforcement regarding this information.
