The Kyiv Metro will test operations on the above-ground section during an emergency

On September 9, trains will operate in test mode on the above-ground section of the Kyiv Metro’s “Green” Line while the yellow threat level is in effect. The testing will take place on the eve of the scheduled launch of train service on this section on September 10.

The testing will take place on the eve of the scheduled September 10 launch of train service on the above-ground section of the Syretsko-Pecherska Line without restrictions while the “yellow” alert level is in effect.

“The Kyiv Metro is finalizing practical drills of safety protocols. Employees are practicing procedures in the event of a ‘yellow’ or ‘red’ air threat alert, the occurrence of emergency situations, and the need to evacuate passengers from the above-ground section,” the statement reads.

Metro staff are also reviewing procedures for informing passengers and coordinating between train operators, train dispatchers, and station personnel on duty.

Separately, audio announcements for passengers are being updated in 105 lead cars on the Syretsko-Pecherska Line in accordance with new operating procedures.
