Ukraine is ready to open all negotiation clusters with the EU in the near future — Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the country is technically ready to open all six negotiation clusters regarding accession to the European Union.
He announced this following a meeting with European Council President António Costa.
According to the head of state, Ukraine expects the process of opening the clusters to begin as early as May or June.
During the talks, the parties also discussed financial support for Ukraine, specifically a €90 billion loan. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the efforts to unblock it and emphasized the importance of the funds being disbursed quickly to prepare for the coming winter.
Special attention was paid to the sanctions policy against Russia. The president noted the adoption of the 20th package of EU sanctions and expressed his expectation that pressure would be further intensified, particularly against the so-called “shadow fleet.”
The day before, Hungary’s incoming Prime Minister Péter Magyar held talks with European Union representatives. The parties discussed the prospects of opening negotiation chapters as part of Ukraine’s EU accession process.
