Ukraine is awaiting a U.S. delegation to resume the peace process — Sibiga
The negotiation track involving the United States aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine is currently on hold. Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated on August 6 that Kyiv is awaiting the arrival of the U.S. negotiating team to revitalize diplomatic efforts.
Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga made this statement at a joint press conference in Kyiv with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
“In my opinion, only a meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin can give real momentum to the peace efforts. If we were to describe the current status of the track involving our American partners, it is on hold—President Zelenskyy has already stated this on multiple occasions. We are awaiting the arrival of the American negotiating team,” Sibiga said.
He added that the Ukrainian side wants to see “greater momentum and engagement from the American side.”
“I always say this, and I’ll say it again: it is impossible to achieve a just peace without the participation of the American side, just as it is difficult to imagine realistic measures and guarantees for European security in the future without the American side. All of this was the subject of President Zelenskyy’s talks with President Trump during his recent trip to Washington,” noted the head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
Nine people were killed and another 28 were injured as a result of a Russian nighttime attack on Kyiv on August 1. Among the victims were four children.
On the evening of July 31, a Russian strike drone struck a high-rise residential building in the Saltivsky district of Kharkiv. According to preliminary information, the building’s roof was damaged, but there were no casualties.
As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.
