Ukraine has urgently requested 2 billion euros in military aid from the Netherlands
Ukraine has appealed to the Dutch government to provide 2 billion euros from its reserved military aid funds ahead of schedule. These funds are needed for the urgent procurement of air defense missiles and the production of drone interceptors to protect civilian infrastructure from intensified Russian attacks.
The Ukrainian side proposes using funding earmarked for future periods while budget negotiations are ongoing in Amsterdam. The Netherlands has used a similar mechanism before: this past summer, the country advanced 437 million euros from its reserved funds.
In total, the Netherlands allocates 3 billion euros annually from the state budget for military support to Ukraine.

Belgian Defense Minister Theo Franken stated that Brussels categorically rejects the possibility of transferring frozen Russian assets worth approximately 200 billion euros to Ukraine and does not intend to change its position.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga expressed his gratitude to the foreign ministers of Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, and Spain for their joint initiative. This refers to a letter to the European Commission calling for the use of frozen Russian assets to benefit Ukraine.
