Ukraine has opened its first agricultural center in Africa — Svyrydenko

Ukraine has launched its first agricultural hub on the African continent—in the Republic of Ghana.

The food processing and distribution center began operations as part of the Food from Ukraine initiative. According to the prime minister, the first products made from Ukrainian flour are already available.

This was reported with reference to a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Telegram.

According to Svyrydenko, despite the war, Ukraine continues to play an important role in ensuring global food security and is transitioning to a new model of cooperation—not only exporting grain but also establishing production and logistics centers in partner countries.

As the head of government explained, the agri-hub was established by Ukrainian agribusiness in cooperation with the Government of Ghana as a result of agreements reached during the Food from Ukraine conference in November 2025.

"This is a new format for our presence in the world, where humanitarian support is combined with the development of partnerships and the local economy," the prime minister stated.

She added that Ukrainian products will be combined with local ones, food kits will be assembled, and their distribution will be ensured. The next stage involves developing processing, packaging, and portioning directly in Ghana.

The first kits included locally produced rice and pasta made in Ghana from Ukrainian flour. During the opening ceremony, 4,000 food kits were handed over to the most vulnerable segments of the population, including Ghanaian widows.

The Ukrainian government views Ghana as a key partner in West Africa for the development of humanitarian programs and the expansion of its trade presence in the region.

"We are ready to share our expertise, technologies, and experience in increasing crop yields to jointly strengthen global food security," Svyrydenko concluded.
