Ukraine Rejected Trump's Old Peace Plan – NYP
Ukraine has decided to reject U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan to end the war with Russia and is seeking to reach a new agreement in light of the changing situation on the battlefield.
According to Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Olga Stefanishyna, the improvement in Ukrainian forces’ positions on the front lines gives Kyiv the opportunity to take a more creative approach to the process of ending hostilities and to increase pressure on the Kremlin, in particular by capitalizing on Washington’s irritation with the Russian leadership’s actions.
At present, the parties do not plan to hold meetings to discuss a specific document, as the Ukrainian side insists on shifting the balance of pressure on Moscow rather than revising the previous version of the proposal. Further discussion of these issues between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump is expected during the NATO summit in Ankara.
Trump’s previously proposed 28-point peace plan called for Ukraine to renounce NATO membership and withdraw Ukrainian troops from the unoccupied areas of Donbas.

U.S. Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner may visit Moscow in the near future. According to Russian media reports, the trip is related to the continuation of negotiations on a possible settlement of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he allegedly had another conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, after which he spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, neither Kyiv nor Moscow has yet confirmed these contacts.
