Ukraine and the U.S. Are Discussing Speeding Up the Delivery of Missiles for the Patriot System — Koretsky

Ukraine is negotiating with the United States to expedite the delivery of missiles for the Patriot systems, as well as to establish joint production of air defense systems.

Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, together with Acting Minister of Defense Yevhen Khmara, met with the vice president of defense contractor Raytheon responsible for land and air defense, as well as with the executive director of Raytheon Ukraine.

The main topic of discussion was strengthening Ukraine’s air defense ahead of the fall and winter season and expanding the capabilities of the domestic defense industry.

“We discussed how to quickly increase the supply of missiles for the Patriot systems before winter, expand their production, and make Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex even stronger. Our goal is not only to meet Ukraine’s needs but also to integrate Ukraine’s defense capabilities into the global security system,” the head of government noted.

During the meeting, the parties also focused on the issue of localizing weapons production within Ukraine.

“Particular attention was paid to the joint production of air defense systems. The presidents of Ukraine and the United States discussed this issue during their meeting in Ankara. The U.S. side proposed practical steps. The Ukrainian government will do everything necessary to ensure that this work begins as soon as possible,” Koretsky emphasized.

This was stated in a statement by Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Tuesday, July 28. The White House has officially confirmed the upcoming talks.

Ukraine plans to receive drones capable of flying 5,000 to 10,000 kilometers as early as next year. At the same time, Kyiv is preparing a large-scale agreement with the United States on the joint production of drones.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that next week he plans to appoint Ihor Klymenko as Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, while Rustem Umerov will focus on working with international partners in the field of security.
