The Ukrainian company Ratel is working on developing an amphibious ground drone
The Ukrainian defense company Ratel Robotics is developing a new variant of the Ratel X ground-based robotic system, which will be capable of moving not only on land but also in water.
The new version is based on the multi-purpose Ratel X robotic system. Judging by the released images, the developers have equipped the platform with special pontoon blocks installed around the perimeter of the hull, which should ensure the vehicle’s buoyancy.
At the same time, the robot has retained its wheeled configuration for land travel.
“We’re teaching the Ratel X to stay afloat and row a little. We’ll be sailing soon,” Ostapchuk wrote.
According to him, work on the project is ongoing, and the design is still being refined.
The Ratel X is a multi-purpose six-wheeled ground-based robotic system designed for logistics and special operations. According to the manufacturer, the platform can operate up to 115 kilometers away from the operator, carry up to 400 kilograms of payload, and reach a speed of about 14 km/h.
