The harvest has officially begun in all regions of Ukraine. As of July 14, farmers have already harvested more than 3.1 million metric tons of grain from the new crop, with the Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions currently reporting the highest harvest volumes.

Ukrainian farmers have begun harvesting early grain and legume crops in all regions of the country. As of July 14, 763,000 hectares have already been harvested, which accounts for about 6% of the projected area. In total, more than 3.1 million metric tons of grain from the new harvest have been harvested. “As of July 14, Ukrainian farmers in all regions have begun harvesting early grain and legume crops. 763,000 hectares—or 6% of the projected area—have already been harvested, yielding 3.1 million metric tons of grain from the new harvest,” the ministry noted.

Barley accounts for the largest share of the harvest so far. A total of 1.842 million metric tons of barley has been harvested from an area of 417,700 hectares. The average yield for this crop is 44.1 centners per hectare. Farmers have already harvested 1.113 million metric tons of wheat. It was harvested from an area of 280,700 hectares, and the average yield currently stands at 39.6 centners per hectare. The pea harvest is also underway. Farmers have already harvested 156,400 metric tons from an area of 64,600 hectares. The average yield for this crop is 24.2 centners per hectare.

Farmers in three regions have harvested the most grain so far. The Odesa region is in the lead, having already harvested over 1 million metric tons of grain from an area of 238,000 hectares. Of this total, nearly 729,000 metric tons are barley, over 190,000 metric tons are wheat, and another 82,000 metric tons are peas. The Mykolaiv region ranks second. There, 805,1 thousand metric tons of grain have already been harvested from an area of 227,3 thousand hectares. Specifically, farmers have harvested 351,5 thousand metric tons of wheat, 409,2 thousand metric tons of barley, and 44,4 thousand metric tons of peas.

The Dnipropetrovsk region is also among the top three. There, 567,3 thousand metric tons of grain have already been harvested from an area of 148,2 thousand hectares. The largest portion was wheat—385,8 thousand metric tons. In addition, 172,300 metric tons of barley and 9,200 metric tons of peas were harvested. At the same time, the harvest of the first oilseed crop of the new season—winter and spring rapeseed—is underway in Ukraine. It has already been threshed across an area of 77,000 hectares, yielding 149,100 metric tons. The average yield is 19.4 centners per hectare.

The Ministry of Economy notes that this year’s total harvest of grains and oilseeds is expected to reach 81–83 million metric tons. According to preliminary forecasts, grain production will amount to 60–61 million metric tons, which is roughly in line with last year’s figures. The wheat harvest is projected to be 22–23 million metric tons. Meanwhile, corn production may exceed 32 million metric tons, and barley production could reach about 5 million metric tons.

The harvest is ongoing, and in the coming weeks, the volume of the new harvest will increase significantly in all regions of the country. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy.

The suspension bridge in the village of Vyzhenka in Bukovina, which collapsed under a group of children in early June, has been fully restored. It was on this very bridge that about 30 children fell into the water while taking a group photo; six of them were injured at the time. The structure has now been repaired, but the investigation into the causes of the incident is ongoing.
