Ukrainian military personnel shared their combat experience with NATO officers
Ukrainian service members with combat experience and experience in military training shared their knowledge with officers from the Polish and German armed forces.
The NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC) conducted a series of seminars on applying Ukraine’s lessons to modern warfare—specifically in troop command procedures and the decision-making process.
Ukraine’s Experience for NATO
Through theoretical sessions and practical exercises, participants examined the impact of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), electronic warfare (EW), and intelligence support on modern tactical operations.
The seminars provided another opportunity for direct interaction between Ukrainian and NATO military personnel, allowing them to compare operational experience with existing doctrinal approaches.
The expertise provided highlighted the importance of rethinking existing views on maneuvering, command, and the employment of forces in a technology-driven operational environment.
NATO-Ukraine: Building Interoperability
One of JATEC’s priorities is to share Ukrainian combat experience and assess how it can be applied in NATO’s military education, training, and tactical planning processes.
“Ukrainian officers bring experience from real, modern warfare, and practical exercises allow us to jointly test how this experience can be used in the training of troops,” said Valeriy Vyshnevskyi, Ukraine’s Senior National Representative to JATEC, Colonel.
JATEC Support for the “Captain Training” Course
The three-week event took place in the Polish city of Lublin at the headquarters of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade (LITPOLUKRBRIG), which provided the infrastructure for organizing the seminars.
The seminars were held as part of the JATEC project to support the “Captains’ Training” course. The project’s goal is to facilitate the exchange of operational experience at the tactical level between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and NATO.
In Ukraine, the “Captain Training” program has been supported by the “Come Back Alive” Foundation since 2022, which provides training facilities and housing for participants.
The officers are learning TLP (Troop Leading Procedures) for planning unit operations at the company level, as well as MDMP (Military Decision-Making Process) for decision-making at the battalion headquarters level.

North Korea has gained combat experience in the war against Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian intelligence has detected the Kremlin’s preparations for a new wave of mobilization measures this fall. According to him, Russia may also be planning to deploy an additional 30,000 troops from North Korea for the war against Ukraine.
Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov refused to confirm or deny reports that Russia may be bringing in another 30,000 troops from North Korea to fight in the war against Ukraine.
