Ukraine is set to be hit by one of the strongest heat waves of this summer
On Thursday, August 6, hot and dry weather with no precipitation will continue across Ukraine. According to weather forecasters, daytime temperatures in most regions will reach 35–38°C, making this one of the hottest days since the start of summer.
According to meteorologists, variable cloud cover with no precipitation is forecast across the entire country. Winds will be variable in direction at speeds of 3–8 m/s, which will not significantly alleviate the heat.
Overnight temperatures will range from 20–25°, while daytime highs are expected to reach 35–38°, meeting the criteria for extreme heat.
Dry and hot weather is also forecast for the Kyiv region and the capital.
According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, temperatures in the Kyiv region will range from 20–25° at night and 35–38° during the day.
In Kyiv, temperatures are expected to be 23–25° at night, and the air will warm up to 35–37° during the day. Winds will be variable, 3–8 m/s.
Forecasters note that no precipitation is expected throughout the day, so high temperatures will persist both during the day and in the evening.
Under these weather conditions, experts recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day, staying well-hydrated, and, if possible, limiting physical activity outdoors, according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to data from the Boris Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory, the average monthly air temperature in Kyiv in July was 20.8°C, which is 0.5°C below the climatic norm.
The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a warning about temperatures reaching 38° and a fire hazard.
