A record-breaking heat wave has hit Ukraine: where temperatures have broken all previous records
The first days of July brought an abnormal heat wave to Ukraine, which has already broken historical temperature records in a number of cities. In several regional capitals, air temperatures exceeded the highest readings recorded since meteorological observations began.
Forecasters note that on July 1, record-high temperatures were recorded in certain regions of the country. The heat wave has swept across a significant portion of Ukraine, and in some cities, temperatures rose above previous all-time highs, setting new climate records. A temperature map shows exactly where the most extreme readings were recorded.
Where in Ukraine Were New Temperature Records Set?
According to experts at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, new temperature records were set:
on July 1, 2026;
in six regional capitals.
It is reported that in some regions of Ukraine, daily highs once again broke their previous all-time records (for this date).
Based on data from meteorological stations, temperatures exceeded historical records by between 0.1 and 2.9°C on that day.
Overall, new temperature records were set on the first day of July in the following regional centers:
Simferopol – 35.9°C;
Lutsk – 35.3°C;
Uzhhorod – 35.2°C;
Lviv – 35.1°C;
Rivne – 34.0°C;
Ternopil – 33.6°C.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center clarified that data from the Simferopol weather station is available via the World Meteorological Organization’s Global Telecommunication System.
In addition, they shared links with Ukrainians to the social media pages of other regional hydrometeorological centers.
That is where you can find information about current “local” temperature records set on specific dates.
In which regions will the heat subside as early as tomorrow
On Friday, July 3, a cold front will sweep across some regions of Ukraine.
Meteorologist and weather forecaster Natalka Didenko previously explained that it will not only bring short-lived rains with thunderstorms (and squalls in some places) but will also “bring down” the air temperature to a comfortable level:
in the western regions;
in Zhytomyr Oblast;
in the Kyiv region;
in Vinnytsia Oblast.
Temperatures there are expected to reach around +24...+29°C during the day.
This was reported with reference to a post by the press service of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center on Facebook.
