Ukrposhta to Receive Over Half a Billion Hryvnias from Real Estate Sales — Kuleba
The national postal operator successfully sold more than 13,000 square meters of properties at auction that had lost their operational significance following the modernization of the network.
Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery Oleksiy Kuleba announced the results of the auctions.
Thanks to transparent auctions on the “Prozorro.Sales” platform, the starting price of the lots increased fourfold, generating over 517 million hryvnias for the company’s budget.
The greatest financial success was recorded in Lviv, where numerous participants competed for a single property.
With an initial value of 56 million hryvnias, the final price of the lot reached an impressive 462 million hryvnias.
In total, about 20 properties were put up for sale, including former warehouses, obsolete sorting centers, and administrative buildings.
The company emphasized that these assets had not been used for their intended purpose for a long time but required significant funds for their maintenance.
In property taxes alone, Ukrposhta spent over 3.5 million hryvnias annually on these neglected properties.
Added to this amount were regular expenses for facility security and payment for basic utilities, which created an additional financial burden for the company.
The postal operator plans to allocate the funds received from privatization toward a large-scale upgrade of its infrastructure and services.
Priority areas for investment will include the development of modern logistics, process automation, and improving the overall efficiency of the national postal service.
The company’s management is convinced that real estate should generate profit and contribute to the country’s development, rather than simply sitting on the balance sheet.
Selling surplus premises allows the company to shed dead weight and transform “dead” square footage into a real resource for modernizing the industry.
