Ukrzaliznytsia has scheduled additional trains for peak travel dates in March and April
Ukrzaliznytsia is introducing four additional trains and extending one long-distance route to Yaremche due to increased passenger traffic.
As the company announced on March 25, the additional trains will be operated using night trains, allowing for the efficient use of existing rolling stock. Specifically, on March 29, trains will run between Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, and Odesa, and on March 30 and 31, a Kyiv–Lviv service has been added.
Starting April 2, the Kyiv–Ivano-Frankivsk train route will be extended to Yaremche Station with daily service, except on certain dates due to repair work. For passengers traveling to Vorokhta or Tatariv, a convenient transfer to a regional DPKr-series diesel train is provided, with its schedule coordinated with the Kyiv-bound service. The additional trains will feature sleeper cars configured as seating cars, where odd-numbered seats are located by the windows.
On March 24, 2026, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” announced a change in the Russian Federation’s shelling tactics, noting that since late 2025, it has begun systematically attacking rolling stock while it is in motion.
In the Kharkiv region, a Russian drone struck a commuter train. No passengers were injured in the attack, but the train engineer and his assistant were wounded.
On the morning of March 8, 2026, a Russian drone carried out a targeted strike on the “Kyiv–Sumy” passenger train.
