Ukrzaliznytsia has doubled the number of seats on trains to Poland
Ukrzaliznytsia has added cars to the popular international train No. 23/24 Kyiv–Chełm. As a result, the train’s passenger capacity has doubled ahead of the expected peak demand at the end of August.
The company explained that peak traffic on the railway is expected at the end of August. During this period, Ukrainians are returning en masse from vacations and holidays, and children are returning from summer camps.
To prepare for the increase in demand, the carrier has bolstered one of its popular international routes. Additional cars have been added to Train No. 23/24 Kyiv–Chełm, doubling its passenger capacity.
At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia continued to monitor demand on other routes. Where possible, the company also plans to add additional cars to train formations to increase the number of available tickets.
At the same time, the railway has increased the volume of social and group transportation. Between August 10 and 19, 35,000 children were transported by rail as part of more than 1,160 organized groups.
In particular, the trains were used by young athletes traveling to health camps, children undergoing treatment at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital, and the children of deceased railroad workers. In total, over the course of ten days—from August 10 to 19—892,610 passengers used rail services.
Ukrzaliznytsia expects a further increase in passenger traffic at the end of August. The carrier continues to monitor demand on various routes in order to increase the number of cars during periods of peak passenger traffic whenever possible.
