Umerov may become Ukraine's new ambassador to the U.S.
Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, is one of the leading candidates for the position of Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States. LIGA.net reports this, citing sources in the Office of the President.
According to the publication’s sources, Umerov’s candidacy is being considered due to his experience in international negotiations and his involvement in concluding defense agreements.
At the same time, the sources emphasize that a final decision on the appointment has not yet been made.
News of the potential new appointment emerged following personnel changes at the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ihor Klymenko would become the new Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, and the Office of the President announced changes at several Ukrainian embassies.
